Turkey to Take Retaliatory Measures Against US After Tariffs on Steel, Aluminum

In retaliation to the U.S. move imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from a number of countries, including Turkey, Ankara is preparing to introduce a set of measures against the U.S.

President Donald J. Trump’s decision to place tariffs of 25 percent and 10 percent on steel and aluminum imports strained relations also with Turkey.

Turkey currently exports steel worth of $1.4. billion and aluminum worth of $60 million to the U.S. mulls to impose tariffs on a number of U.S. goods, including automobiles, paper, whiskey, nuts, tobacco and petrochemical products.

The cost of the tariffs, which are expected to reach as much as $250 million, will take effect from June 21 on, the Hurriyet daily reported.
