Turkish Court Orders Release of Journalist Mehmet Altan

After 22 months of imprisonment, a local court in Istanbul ruled to release Journalist Mehmet Altan who faces three aggravated life sentences over charges of coup involvement and terrorism.

Earlier this year, Constitutional Court ruled for the release of Altan but local court in Istanbul refused to heed with the top court’s verdict which is normally final and binding for all lower courts across Turkey.
